Hiking at Crowders Mountain

So we decided that we are going to try to go hiking more since it is one of my favorite things to do.

Crowders Mountain here we come.

It was a great opportunity for the family to get their state park passports stamped.  These are so much fun, you should totally check them out.

We ended up hitting three different tail markers and went nearly 4 kilometers. So much fun.  We took the camera and got some great shots of goofy kiddos and fun buggies.
Millipede, Apheloria tigana maybe?

Just a few thoughts on Crowders Mountain. This is a great state park, but I would make sure to look at the website before you go to familiarize yourself with the trails and options that the park has. We ended up on three different trail markers the way we went, since we started at the visitor's center parking lot and not at the pond. The easy trails are better started at the pond parking, but the trail to them from the visitor center isn't that bad. You will cross roads. The easy trails are the Lake Trails and Fern Trail, we also were on Turnback Trail which is moderate.

There are lots of picnic places, but bring your own water. The water at the visitor center has to be tested and while we were there the testing had not cleared as potable water. They have this information on the website.
There are canoes to rent at $5 an hour, and backpack camping sites, too. It really is a great place.
